AN ART INCUBATOR FOR CONTEMPORARY EUROPEAN NON-INSTITUTIONALISED THEATRE
Make a Move was an European project which took place between 2018 and 2020, and brought together emerging theatre organisations and artists from all over Europe. This incubator was aimed for theatre makers in the field of contemporary movement-based theatre practices such as physical theatre, mime, improvisational theatre and other forms with a strong relation to the body and movement.
The term “non-institutionalised” referred to practices that take place outside and beyond established institutions or repertory theatres. However, we are aware that this realm of theatre can only be adequately understood and precisely named in the context of each individual European country or region.
The main objective of the Make a Move project was to contribute to the revitalisation of European theatre. The strategy to achieve this is was to develop and test an innovative incubating environment in which theatre practitioners had the opportunity to develop their artistic and professional skills and grow production proposals from the stage of creative ideas to different stages of production and touring.
This project gathered more than 40 artists to work in a series of residencies of research, project development, and artistic creation in Galway (Ireland), Rijeka (Croatia), and Targû Mures (Romania).
